At Hazrath Shajalal Central Mosque, we are committed to nurturing the next generation with a strong foundation in Islamic knowledge and values. Our reformed structured Maktab programme is designed to equip children with the essential tools to live their lives in accordance with Islamic principles.

The Maktab is for boys and girls from Year 1 to Year 9. The Maktab will run parallel with school terms dates. This will be Monday to Friday 5:15PM to 6:45PM. Please refer to the timetable & 2025/2026 term calendar below for a further breakdown.

Teachers

We are blessed with three experienced and qualified teachers who are passionate about guiding children on their spiritual journey.

The teachers are:

• Mufti Mashudur Rahman [MR] - will teach Qaidah & Quran and help memorise surahs and duas

• Hafiz Abdul Malik [AM] - will teach Qaidah & Quran and help memorise surahs and duas

• Mowlana Ruman Meah [RM] - will teach academic in English on Fridays 

Curriculum Overview

We have a structure syllabus split into four levels. 

The syllabus includes the following topics:

• Qaidah – foundational Arabic reading

• Qur'an – recitation and understanding

• Tajweed – correct pronunciation and rules

• Memorisation of Surahs & Duas

• Aqeedah – core beliefs of Islam

• Fiqh – cleanliness, Salah (prayer), and Swam (fasting)

• Islamic Etiquettes / Adhaab

• Seerah of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH)

There will be a awards assembly in August 2026 and to reward those that have passed and completed the syllabus.

Fees & Payment Options

• Annual Fee: £360 per child (please note, this is for the full year)

• Installment Plan: £30 per month

• Discounted Upfront Payment: £300 per child - Paying upfront will help the Maktab cover the essential costs such as study materials

• All study materials are included in the price

• Payments can be made via bank transfer or cash. Evidence must be provided for bank transfer.

Uniform

Please note, the following is the uniform set for our Maktab:

• Boys - Thobe & Kufi / Topi

• Girls - Abaya & Scarf

Child Safeguarding

We take child safety and welfare with the utmost importance. For your peace of mind:

• All teachers are handpicked, reputable individuals

• All staff are DBS checked (or in the process of being checked)

• Our study hall is monitored 24/7 via CCTV to ensure a safe learning environment
